mono3 is a health monitoring device that unites Blood Pressure, Blood Oxygen Level, and Body Temperature readings into one simple gesture.
All measurements are non-invasive and can be simply read as the user puts their hand on the device.
Why is the hand covering the screen?
During my research I found that one of the primary reasons of inaccurate blood pressure readings is caused by the patient watching the results as reading increases and changes.
In this design, the user cannot be distracted by the presence of the numbers or the screen during the reading.
Process:
The project included a long period of ideation where I was sketching, making simple models, and getting feedback from users of home health devices.
All models including the ergonomically designed final model were tested in-person to ensure a comfortable fit for all hand sizes.
This physical test model was made out of polyurethane foam and 3D printed PLA. It ensured that I had comfortable ergonomics and the correct proportions for the CAD after many sketch model experiments.
Using the proportions and measurements from my final physical model, I made a SolidWorks CAD model to render my design with the planned materials and finishes.
